A quick guide for Musicians!
Middletown Ohio is located in Butler and Warren counties in the southwestern part of the state. It’s home to around 49,000 people so it’s a fairly good size town, but not quite big enough to really be considered a full-fledged city. Middletown became a town in 1886 and was home of AK Steel Holding Corporation (formerly Armco), a major steel works founded in 1900 until offices were moved to West Chester Township, Ohio in 2007, but AK Steel's factory still resides in Middletown and there is a definite “factory town” kind of vibe here.
There is a small municipal airport known as Hook Field, but is only for general aviation and no longer supports commercial flight. Miami University has a regional campus here so there is a college presence. Also Middletown is centrally located between Cincinnati and Dayton , about 20 to 25 miles from each, respectively. That opens some doors up for local musicians as far as music resources go, which is nice.
The crime rate is 645.5 overall crimes a year, compared to the U.S. average of 319.2 crimes a year. In that respect it's not the safest place in the world to leave your gear in an unlocked van after hours. So don’t let the low population fool you, watch your stuff.
