by down and out in the FIELD
I bought an Shure SM-58 and recorded an entire record from home with it. It was a primarily lo-fi affair. This is a very versatile and dynamic microphone that does not require phantom power. It is a workhorse of a performance microphone but I had never really used it for recording.
I was definitly happy with the sound that I got for this project. I would just like to let anybody know who might be looking to record a lofi sounding record at home to give an SM-58 a try. Its a pretty cool mic, and while not a condensor mic it can still do a great job on smaller at home projects.
